Alcemi enters Romania with two BESS acquisitions
The developer picks up the 300MW Medgidia and 275MW Șura Mare projects, marking its first move into the Romanian market.

Alcemi has acquired two Romanian battery storage projects, 300MW Medgidia and 275MW Șura Mare, marking the company's entry into the Romanian market, per Renews.biz. Romania's grid has faced chronic balancing pressure as wind and solar capacity grows in the south and east, making large-scale storage increasingly attractive for developers seeking ancillary-service revenue.
The same day, Envision and Kallista started construction at the 193MW Neuilly-en-Thelle BESS project in France. The French zone has seen growing developer interest in storage following capacity market reforms and tighter balancing requirements from RTE.
Separately, Danske Commodities was selected to provide trading optimisation for European Energy's Agersted solar-battery project in Denmark. The appointment signals continued demand for third-party optimisation services as co-located assets multiply across Nordic bidding zones.
