Drax Group has agreed to acquire Bluefield Solar for $755 million, according to Reuters. Bluefield Solar holds a portfolio of operational UK solar assets; the transaction moves Drax further away from its legacy biomass base and into lower-carbon generation. No completion date was specified in the Reuters report.
Separately, France's cumulative solar fleet reached 33 GW as of 31 March 2026, with 1,495 MW connected in Q1 alone, per pv magazine. That quarterly figure is marginally below the 1,500-plus MW installed in Q1 2025, suggesting modest deceleration at the margin rather than a structural slowdown. France remains on track to be one of Europe's largest solar markets by installed base this decade.
Taken together, both items reflect the same underlying dynamic: operational solar assets carry real balance-sheet value, and build rates in large European markets are holding near record levels even as unit revenue compresses under higher solar penetration.
