Elia and CPP have bought the Tarchon interconnector, a subsea cable linking the UK and German bidding zones at 1.4 GW of capacity. The acquisition adds a significant cross-border route to Elia's transmission portfolio and directly increases the thermal transfer limit between two of Europe's largest power markets.

In Spain, Red Eléctrica broke ground on the Cardoso substation in Carreño, Asturias. The project is the opening phase of the Central Asturias Power Ring. The €26.5 million GIS facility will operate dual switchyards at 400 kV and 220 kV and is targeted at reinforcing supply to heavy industrial and urban demand centres in the region. Separately, Red Eléctrica completed the Cerdà substation expansion in Barcelona's Zona Franca. The wider Cerdà programme, representing €37 million in total investment, brought three new lines into service (Cerdà–Hospitalet, Cerdà–Aeropuerto, and Cerdà–Zona Franca) and enables the Port of Barcelona to begin quay electrification.

In Scotland, ScottishPower awarded M Group a £110 million contract to upgrade the Strathaven-to-Smeaton transmission line, adding further high-voltage reinforcement capacity in a zone with growing offshore wind connection demand.
