Energinet released an assessment of its historical use of geotagged mFRR energy bids. The review covers how location-specific constraints on manual frequency restoration reserve bids have influenced activation decisions across the Danish bidding zones.

The publication follows an earlier Energinet document setting out the framework for geo-tags on mFRR capacity bids. Together, the two documents give a fuller picture of how Energinet has operationalised geographic restrictions within the Nordic balancing framework. Geo-tagging limits which mFRR energy bids the TSO can call, based on where the resource sits in the grid, to avoid worsening internal congestion while restoring frequency balance.

No aggregated cost or volume figures were available from the published headlines alone. Analysts tracking Danish balancing costs and mFRR activation rates should consult the full Energinet report directly for historical breakdowns by zone and settlement period.
