Four banks have committed €234m in project debt for an agrivoltaic solar development in Sicily, per Renews.biz. The deal is one of the larger single-project debt packages seen in the Italian solar market this year and signals continued lender appetite for southern European assets despite ongoing capture price pressure across the continent.
Italy stands out on capture price. Modo Energy placed the Italian solar capture price at €125/MWh in March 2026, a figure that compares favourably to zones further north where solar cannibalisation has been more pronounced. Sicily's high irradiation and the agrivoltaic structure, which layers land-use revenue alongside generation, likely supported lender underwriting at that ticket size.
Elsewhere, OnPath Energy started construction on a 50MW site in South Yorkshire, with commissioning targeted for mid-2027. Anesco separately confirmed private equity investment to push forward a pipeline exceeding 7GW, though deal size and investor identity were not disclosed in the Renews.biz report.
