Finland adds 478 MW of utility-scale solar in H1 2026

Finland's utility-scale solar sector posted its strongest half-year on record in H1 2026, adding 478 MW across eight plants each exceeding 1 MW. The volume was enough to more than double the zone's prior installed base in the segment, per pv magazine.

The pace puts Finland among the faster-moving Nordic markets for large-scale solar. The Finnish grid operates as part of the Nordic bidding zone structure, meaning a rapid capacity surge in a single half-year can shift capture price dynamics, particularly during high-irradiance summer hours when Nordic hydro reservoirs are already well-stocked and marginal prices in the FI zone can drop sharply.
