Finland's energy regulator is seeking to impose a €9.25m fine against Kinect Energy for alleged market-conduct violations, according to EnergyWatch. The figure places this among the more substantial national enforcement actions brought under REMIT against a single trading entity in the Nordic region.
The timing coincides with ACER publishing the 44th edition of its REMIT Quarterly, covering Q1 2026. The edition focuses on updates to the REMIT framework and previews the ACER–European Commission workshop set for 11 June 2026. That workshop is likely to draw direct attention from compliance desks given the Finnish enforcement action now on the table.
On a separate regulatory front, Germany's coalition government is weighing measures including a windfall-profit tax to address elevated energy costs, per Reuters. No figure or implementation timeline has been confirmed. For generators and traders with German exposure, the proposal adds policy uncertainty to an already volatile price environment in DE-LU.
Taken together, the Finnish REMIT action and the German windfall-tax discussion reflect a broader pattern: national regulators and governments are moving from framework-building toward active intervention in power markets across the continent.
