Five zones set August daily solar records over the weekend
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal each logged new August daily solar highs, yet weekly prices stayed above €100/MWh.

AleaSoft Energy Forecasting recorded five new August daily solar generation records over the weekend, covering the French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese zones. The simultaneous sweep across five major European zones points to a broad high-irradiance event rather than a single-market anomaly.
The records did not suppress prices. Weekly average electricity prices remained above €100/MWh across all five markets last week, a level that reflects demand and gas dynamics alongside solar output.
Separately, Romania's installed solar capacity has surpassed 8.5 GW, with roughly 1.8 GW commissioned since the start of 2026. At that build rate, the Romanian zone is on course to reach its official 2030 target of 10 GW by 2027, per pv magazine.
