The UK government unveiled GB Grid, a publicly owned company set to compete with private sector network operators. Andy Burnham is behind the announcement, per Energy Live News and pv magazine.

Alongside GB Grid, the policy package introduces self-build connection rights for developers in certain cases. The UK cited Ireland's similar scheme as proof of concept. Competitive tendering for new transmission infrastructure will also be accelerated, a measure that directly affects project timelines for generators and storage developers seeking grid access.

Separately, Norway's energy regulatory authority announced simplified connection procedures for small-scale PV. The change targets households, housing associations, and other end customers in the Norwegian zone, reducing administrative barriers to rooftop solar adoption.
