German offshore wind is stacking up contract risk. Recharge News reports that Siemens Gamesa, Vestas and other turbine suppliers carry a combined $45bn exposure tied to earlier German offshore tenders, projects now under pressure from cost inflation and grid delays.
TotalEnergies is at the centre of the licence-return problem. The company confirmed that negotiations to hand back its 1.5GW German offshore site have so far broken down, leaving it holding a licence it no longer wants to develop, per Recharge News and Renews.biz. No revised timeline for resolution has been reported.
Elsewhere, RWE logged two construction milestones on 11 June: first turbine installation at Nordseecluster A and full turbine completion at the 1.4GW Sofia offshore project in the UK. France is separately preparing to release tender documents for a 10GW offshore programme, according to Renews.biz.
