Germany's offshore wind fleet hit 10.8GW after operators connected 1.1GW of new capacity in the first half of 2026. The industry is calling for urgent auction reform alongside the capacity news, signalling that pipeline constraints rather than build rates are the near-term ceiling.

RWE's Nordseecluster A reached first power on 22 July, adding to the H1 additions in the German zone. Separately, Vestas secured a 43MW onshore order in Germany using V162-7.2MW machines, also placed by Eurowind Energy, the same developer now constructing 138MW in Romania.

In the GB zone, ScottishPower unveiled a repowering plan for Whitelee that would more than double the site's output to over 1GW. If consented, it would rank among the largest onshore repowering projects in Europe.
