Greece's Go Beyond Solar Battery program awards just 5% of budget

Greece's Go Beyond Solar Battery program has made its first provisional awards: €8.15 million across 209 businesses for 28.2 MW/49.3 MWh of battery storage tied to 30.8 MW of solar PV capacity, per pv magazine. The figures land well below the program's stated ambition of €153.7 million and 333 MW of storage, leaving the bulk of the budget unallocated at this stage.

Elsewhere in southeastern Europe, Renalfa is moving forward with a repower of its Devnya solar site in Bulgaria to 65 MW, adding a co-located 60 MW/165 MWh BESS, per Renews.biz. The project illustrates a wider trend of pairing existing solar assets with utility-scale storage rather than greenfield development.

In the Nordics, Mirova has deployed €65 million into storage through Ingrid Capacity, which will develop, operate, and optimise two BESS projects, per Renews.biz. The investment adds to a growing pipeline of merchant and hybrid storage in a region where balancing markets are tightening.
