Italy clears 599 MW agrivoltaic plant in Puglia

Italy's Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security gave a positive environmental impact assessment to a planned 599 MW agrivoltaic project in Puglia on 29 July. The ruling is conditional, with the ministry attaching several requirements before construction can proceed. At 599 MW, the plant would rank among the largest agrivoltaic installations approved in Italy to date.

Elsewhere in the region, Masdar and Montenegro's national power utility confirmed plans to build 150 MW of solar as part of a wider joint venture targeting 2 GW of large-scale renewables across the zone. No commissioning timeline was disclosed. In Serbia, the solar fleet stood at around 379 MW at end-June after 61 MW was added in H1 2026, per pv magazine. Permitting backlogs and slow grid-connection processes continue to weigh on utility-scale deployment, though the prosumer segment is still expanding.

In Germany, Energiekontor closed financing for its 11 MW Kolitzheim-Herlheim array in Bavaria, a smaller but fully committed build that signals continued appetite for mid-scale merchant solar in the German zone.
