Latvia raises battery floor to 10 kWh in expanded €85 m rebate scheme

Latvia has expanded its €85 million household renewable energy support programme, raising grant levels and doubling the minimum supported battery capacity from 5 kWh to 10 kWh. As of May 2026, the scheme had processed 15,700 projects: more than 14,000 solar PV applications and over 2,000 battery storage applications.

The move tightens the storage floor at a time when residential battery costs are falling across Europe. By requiring at least 10 kWh per installation, Latvia is steering subsidy spending toward systems large enough to shift meaningful load and reduce peak grid demand.
