Northern Ireland renewable price guarantee gets green light

The Renewable Electricity Price Guarantee for Northern Ireland has been approved, according to Aurora Energy Research. Aurora reports the approval of the scheme, though their published headline is the extent of confirmed detail available at this stage.

The scheme is designed to provide price certainty for renewable generators operating in the Northern Ireland zone, where market exposure has historically complicated project financing. No specific strike price or capacity volumes were disclosed in Aurora's public-facing release.

In a separate note, Aurora assessed hydrogen co-firing or conversion as an affordable pathway for phasing out the emissions profile of Dutch gas-fired generation by 2035. The two publications together signal active policy movement on both the island of Ireland and in the Dutch zone.
