The GB regulator's minded-to decision moves selected projects into the next phase of its long-duration storage support programme.

Ofgem published its minded-to decision on 26 June, naming the projects shortlisted for support under GB's long-duration storage programme. The decision is provisional: it initiates a project selection phase rather than committing public funding. Ofgem's stated rationale is energy security, reducing the volume of power Great Britain imports by backing storage technologies capable of multi-hour or multi-day dispatch.
Renews.biz confirmed the publication moves the scheme to its next administrative stage. The regulator has not yet disclosed individual project names, capacities, or expected in-service dates in the publicly available summaries; those details are expected to follow as selection progresses.
Separately, WindEurope used the timing of the EU Energy Council's 26 June discussions to push for a legally binding 2040 renewables target at the EU level. The industry body argues the EU's 2030 target demonstrably accelerated wind and solar build-out, and that the absence of an equivalent 2040 commitment risks slowing the investment pipeline and eroding European industrial competitiveness in clean energy equipment.
