Red Eléctrica has simultaneously commissioned upgrades at two Spanish transmission nodes. At Peñaflor in Villamayor de Gállego, the company completed installation of a new transformer backed by €10 million in investment. The substation is one of the primary supply points for the Zaragoza metropolitan area, which Red Eléctrica puts at more than 800,000 people alongside several major industrial zones. Two new bays at the 400 kV switchyard are now under construction; when complete, they will connect directly to two unspecified large consumers.

In Castellón, the Betxí 220 kV substation expansion has entered service, strengthening the link between the transmission grid and the distribution network across Plana Baixa. Red Eléctrica cites the ceramics sector as a primary industrial driver of the capacity increase, alongside residential electrification. Both upgrades flow from the same April 2024 Council of Ministers order that is legally binding on the company and covers additional substations across Aragón's three provinces, including Espartal 220 kV, Ave Zaragoza 220 kV, Esquedas 220 kV, Montetorrero 220 kV, and Magallón 400/220 kV.
