Ørsted and RWE post strong H1 as offshore generation climbs

Ørsted reported a 23% increase in offshore electricity generation across the first six months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. The result puts the Danish developer on track to meet its 2026 guidance, according to Renews.biz. RWE also posted a strong H1, with wind earnings rising on the back of better resource and incremental capacity additions.

The positive generation numbers contrast with continued pressure on Vestas's offshore division. Renews.biz reports the Danish turbine OEM is likely to post a divisional loss for the full year 2026, with management targeting a return to profitability in 2027. A separate blade failure incident at a German offshore site added to the operational noise: debris has been contained, root-cause analysis is ongoing, and construction at the affected project has now concluded.

Taken together, the H1 results suggest that asset-level offshore generation across the North Sea corridor recovered meaningfully from weaker comparable periods, even as equipment-cost pressures continue to weigh on turbine-side margins.
