Scottish minister backs rethink on Ming Yang UK ban

Scottish minister Gethins is pressing the UK government to reverse its ban on Ming Yang, the Chinese turbine manufacturer, according to Renews.biz. The minister points to the £1.5 billion Ardersier development, which backers say would create 1,500 jobs in Scotland. The ban, introduced on security grounds, has stalled one of the larger offshore wind investments linked to a Scottish fabrication site.

The UK security review of Chinese-linked supply chains has created a direct conflict with industrial policy objectives. Ardersier Port, a former oil-platform yard being converted into an offshore wind hub, had positioned Ming Yang's investment as central to its pipeline. No revised government position has been announced.

Separately, in the Latvian zone, Connecto is set to begin construction at a 117 MW onshore wind site. Connecto's scope covers substation installation, electrical works, and cable lines, per Renews.biz.
