Slovenia launches electricity sharing scheme on 1 July
Solar owners will be able to transfer excess generation to any recipient nationwide at a mutually agreed price.

Slovenia activates electricity sharing on 1 July 2026, per pv magazine. Solar owners can designate recipients anywhere in the country and agree a bilateral transfer price, with no geographic restriction to a single distribution area. Registration opened on 2 June.
The national scope distinguishes this from the community-energy models common in Western Europe, which are typically confined to a single low-voltage feeder or local DSO zone. By allowing cross-country transfers at a freely negotiated price, Slovenia is effectively creating a thin P2P market layer outside the day-ahead stack.
No volume caps or eligible-capacity thresholds were disclosed in the announcement. Analysts tracking CEE prosumer regulation will want to monitor registration uptake and any ELES network-access rules that govern how shared volumes are settled against the physical grid.
