Spain's CNMC launched formal probes into major energy companies following the historic blackout that hit the Iberian peninsula, according to Reuters. The regulator is examining whether any operator failed to meet grid-code obligations in the run-up to or during the outage. No findings have been published yet.

The investigation marks the sharpest regulatory intervention in the Spanish electricity sector in years. It runs in parallel with REE's own technical post-mortem. Enforcement timelines and the list of named entities have not been confirmed publicly.

In the UK, the government announced plans to overhaul Ofgem and grant it explicit powers to ban bonuses at regulated energy companies, per Reuters. The move follows sustained political pressure over network operator remuneration and is framed as part of a broader energy regulatory reform package.

On the Belgian CRM, Elia on 22 April opened a formal public consultation on the scenarios, sensitivities, and input data used to calculate capacity remuneration mechanism parameters. Responses will feed into the next auction calibration cycle.
