TenneT completes Maasvlakte cable drilling for offshore wind link

TenneT completed directional drilling at Maasvlakte, installing the protective tubes needed to route cables for a Dutch offshore wind grid connection. The milestone clears one of the more technically demanding civil works steps before cable pulling can begin.

No timeline for the next phase was disclosed in the Renews.biz report, but Maasvlakte sits at the heart of the Dutch offshore cable corridor feeding capacity from the North Sea into the onshore transmission network.

Elsewhere, the European Commission's Electricity Coordination Group convened to examine how extreme weather is affecting electricity security of supply across Central Europe and South-East Europe. The DG-ENER readout did not publish quantitative findings, but the meeting signals continued regulatory focus on weather-driven grid stress ahead of the autumn demand season.
