Two separate BESS financing announcements have landed, both pointing to the same structural theme: developers are pairing storage assets with long-term offtake or revenue-floor contracts to unlock debt.

In the UK, Econergy closed project financing for its Immingham BESS. The anchor revenue instrument is a 10-year revenue floor agreement with EDF, per Renews.biz. The deal gives lenders a defined downside limit on merchant exposure, a structure that has become increasingly common in GB storage finance.

In the German zone, Centrica and Zelestra signed a tolling agreement on the Hilgermissen project, rated at 99MW and 297MWh. A tolling structure transfers dispatch rights and associated market risk to the toller, in this case Centrica, while the asset owner receives a capacity-based fee. Hilgermissen's 3-hour duration positions it across both intraday and balancing markets in Germany.
