The UK's eighth Contracts for Difference allocation round has opened Pot 3 for submissions. Fixed-bottom offshore wind projects can now bid under a £113/MWh strike price ceiling, the administrative cap set by DESNZ for AR8. More than 17 GW of eligible capacity can enter, making this the largest fixed-bottom pipeline to face a single Pot 3 window.
The cap is £113/MWh in 2012 prices. Developers have until the submission deadline to lodge bids; results are expected later in 2026. The size of the eligible pipeline means competition within Pot 3 will be significant, though awarded volumes will depend on clearing prices and the overall budget envelope.
In a separate development, PNE announced it has received permits for five onshore wind projects in Germany totalling 188 MW. No auction dates or PPAs were disclosed in the announcement.
